Conference theme: “Theory, Policy and Practice in RE – Is this a time of divergence?”
The Association of University Lecturers in Religious Education (AULRE) is delighted to announce that its 2023 conference will be returning to Newman University Birmingham on 18th and 19th May.
Our global context of impending ecological crisis and socio-political upheavals has seen increasing lines of divergence developing in RE. In the UK political devolution appears to be significantly impacting on the theory, policy and practice of RE and it is important to reflect on what this means. The conference theme has been chosen to open up discussions around religious education and religion in education’s role in and response to issues surrounding socio-political divergence.
The conference intends to bring together those with an interest in religious education (both directly and indirectly) from all parts of the UK and beyond, so is open to: teacher educators; teacher practitioners; RE professionals and researchers; and those working and researching in aligned fields such as Sociology, Theology, Religious Studies, Education Studies, Psychology, Philosophy and Childhood and Youth Studies.
